Welcome!
I'm Bianca, a South African mother of three with a deep love for minimalism, art, natural textiles, our forests, oceans, and creating lives that feel lighter, slower, and more beautiful.
When I wanted to cloth diaper my own children, I discovered that the products I dreamed of simply weren't available here. The diapers I wanted existed (in Europe, Australia, wherever design budgets were larger and shipping costs weren't) but reaching them from South Africa meant joining a group import, paying a premium for the privilege of doing the sensible thing, and waiting months for a box that should have been available down the road.
The barrier was never the washing. Every parent doing cloth already owns a washing machine; every parent is already doing laundry several times a week. There is no special soaking routine or expensive detergents. What needs to be done is already happening and it doesn't take up much space.
For the first year and a half, I added no profit margin to our products. The mission was never to build the biggest company. It was to make world-class cloth diapering accessible to South African families and help as many parents as possible discover how simple, beautiful and practical it can be.
One small collection of thoughtfully designed diapers can replace around 6,000 disposable diapers (the number an average child uses before potty training). Those disposable diapers remain in landfills for centuries. One child. A mountain of waste. It doesn't have to be this way.
After conversations with the absolute top-tier brands I admired around the world and the manufacturers behind them, I created South Africa's first premium wipeable hybrid cloth diaper system. The final design was shaped through countless conversations with our incredible community of parents, midwives, birth workers, lactation consultants, and cloth diaper advocates. Every feature reflects the collective wisdom of the people who use these products every day.
Instead of needing around 24 traditional cloth diapers (or thousands of disposables), most families need only 8-12 wipeable shells paired with our natural fibre snap-in inserts. The same diapers grow with your child from infancy through potty training.
Buy them once. Use them for years.
Our shells are made using recycled textiles. Our inserts are crafted from natural fibres that are soft, breathable and designed with your baby's comfort in mind.
Every print is original artwork that I have designed myself because I believe the everyday objects we surround ourselves with matter. Life is made up of thousands of ordinary moments. Why shouldn't those moments be beautiful?
Milk & Marrow has never really been about diapers. It is about freedom. Freedom from waste. Freedom from clutter. Freedom to spend less, own less, and enjoy more.
Because childhood is short. Families deserve products that make life beautiful, not harder.
Welcome to the Milk & Marrow Collective. We're so grateful you're here.
